Description

Today's :icondailysketchchallenge: was Nick Fury. I love the original. I love Sam Jackson's. I think they can both co-exist.

I went for a sort of Steranko/Kirby style action pose for Nick, and threw in the flying convertible, in onroad mode. Why? 'cuz I need to get better at drawing cars.

I'll start by saying you're absolutely right. They can co-exist and they're both awesome. The critique I give you is anatomy, perspective, composition and patience. I'll explain. Anatomy: Learn from different sources including photo stock, text books, magazines...everywhere. This will also teach you human perspective and how the body moves/poses. Practice this religiously. In this piece you have 5 different perspectives. 3 of which are on classic Nick. His left leg and arm are thinner than his right ones. At this perspective that cannot be. Composition: Try to "weight" the piece evenly. Not putting heavy blacks on one side and thinner lines on the other. It draws ones eyes to the heavy side automatically. Patience....you said you need to learn to draw cars. Learn your anatomy/composition and perspective first. Spreading yourself so thin to learn it all at once will only delay you mastering any of it. I hope this helps you.
